Ramayana - Ravana's navel.

Ram was desperately trying to kill Ravana but all his efforts were going in vain.

He was losing hope and was exhausted, tired of hitting him perfectly with his arrows yet not being able to kill Ravana.

At last, he was informed by Vibhishan that he had to aim at Ravan's navel.

The moment he did it, Ravana was gone.

It's a very vivid and lucid representation of highly important messasge in the form of story-telling.

The message was made so clear without getting into a tougher spiritual form that could have been very difficult for people at that time to understand and incorporate in their lifestyle which even today most people would not try to understand as they are too busy and submerged in the externality of the message which might have not been intended to be told.

Within ourselves, lives all the characters represented in the story and we behave in some or the other way depending upon situations, social interactions, intellectual level, tolerance level, state of mind, psychological mind make-up, prejudices and many other factors.

That Ram stands for righteousness and an exceptional leader with quality leadership skills is well-known and even Ravana was a highly intelligent person is also shown in the story. But, Ravana went into the darkness of wrong-doings, his intelligence turned into arrogance and ego.

The message about killing of Ravana is that no matter how hard we try to kill the wrong in us, it takes a heavy toll of understanding over the self and tough work to find out the root of the problem.

We can only remove the bad part within us when we remove it from its root. The thing that interests me the most about Ravana's killing was the very fact that Ram needed to hit the navel to get over Ravana.

So, why was the navel so important?

Navel is the part of the body that is attached from the mother through the placenta and the genesis of child, the birth, nutrition, growth all begins from there. It is the very root of evolution of a life.

So, you might have guessed or understood the importance of the simple message by now , which was that Ram had to strike at the base, the genesis , the very root of the problem to get rid of it !!!

In our life too, to win over our ego, prejudices, hatred and bad habits that keep us away from achieving our true potentials we need to kill so many Ravanas by speculating  and mulling hard over them and defeating them from the point of their origin itself.

Such a great spiritual thought has been so easily told to people , but unfortunately, most of us are looking outside and trying to kill in others the beings whatever we don't like. Instead, we should try to see from others' perspectives as well, try to kill whatever ills are there inside of us or in anybody who is struggling with the fight for being good human being, for every fighter against ill-self is a Ram and everyone who supports somebody with a critical thought about the problem someone is facing within is a Vibhishan!!!!!!!
